On July 11, 2023, Kern County Board of Trustee Cisneros reported that she is requesting the board to adopt a policy similar to Chino Valley School District's policy, which will force schools to out LGBTQIA+ students.
The policy would endanger students and make them vulnerable to:
- Hostile reactions, including but not to limited to domestic abuse and bullying;
- Increased trauma and violence, and;
- Increased suicidal thoughts. Data indicated that 82 percent of transgender individuals have considered unaliving themselves and 40 percent attempted suicide. Support for students that can possibly endure this harmful possibly was well shown last night at the Kern County Board of Education Meeting.
