At Thursday night's Kern County Board of Education meeting, trustee Cisneros requested that the proposed policy be added to the agenda, and in a 5-2 vote, it was denied.

Certain members of the community had angry outbursts resulting in everyone being dismissed for a closed session.

Upon return, our youth, allies, and members of the community shared their concerns with harmful proposed policies and demanded that the board keep LGBTQIA+ students safe.

It takes a community to speak against injustices, and the fight is not over! A little win for a long road ahead!
